Helping You Move Forward

WELCOME

It's a pleasure to have you here. I invite you to explore my website to learn more about my counselling approach and the services I offer. When you're ready, I warmly encourage you to get in touch. Let's have a conversation about your needs, goals, and how we can work together to support your well-being.

About Me

My name is Gail Carvil.  I am a CBT therapist currently offering individual counselling sessions to adults aged 18+. Whether you're facing challenging life transitions, relationship difficulties, anxiety, or maybe you are struggling with the impact of trauma, abuse or bereavement.  I strive to create a safe and welcoming space where you can freely express yourself and find the understanding, and support you deserve.

Nurture is at the heart of my approach. I am committed to providing you with compassionate guidance, gentle encouragement, and practical tools that empower you to create lasting change. I recognise the uniqueness of your journey, and I tailor our sessions to suit your individual needs, goals and aspirations.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), is a proven method that focuses on the intricate connection between thoughts, emotions, and behaviours.

CBT forms the foundation of my counselling approach, as it empowers individuals to identify and challenge unhelpful thoughts and beliefs that contribute to emotional distress. Throughout our sessions, we will take time to understand the connections between your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. We will explore the impact of your past experiences and how they influence your present well-being. With compassionate guidance, I will support you in gaining insight into your unique experience and help you develop practical skills to navigate challenges and move towards the changes you would like to see.

While CBT is a vital component of my counselling approach, I understand that each person is a unique individual, and one size does not fit all. That's why I draw on a range of counselling techniques to create an experience that meets your specific needs and goals.   Drawing on other evidence-based modalities, such as mindfulness-based approaches, solution-focused therapy and compassion focused therapy.

My aim is to empower you to become an active participant in your own healing journey, equipping you with the tools and insights needed to navigate life's challenges long after our sessions conclude.

I am able to support with a range of issues:

  • Anxiety (general, social and health)

  • Depression

  • Relationship difficulties

  • Divorce and separation

  • Grief and bereavement

  • Phobias

  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

  • Abuse

Next Step

Next Step

Let's set aside some time for an initial telephone discussion. This will be an opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have about the counselling process, my approach, or any concerns that you may wish to discuss.

This initial conversation is a chance for you to get a sense of whether my counselling sessions might meet your needs. It's essential for you to feel a sense of comfort, trust, and connection with your counsellor, as this forms the foundation of our work together.
